Polk County 24-Hour Releases
The Polk County Sheriff's Office has no public page listing everyone released during a rolling one-day period. Its Inmates In Custody roster says each displayed person is in custody and that the information updates hourly. It has no recent-release tab, archive, date filter, or switch for a 24-hour window. Calling that roster a release list would reverse its meaning.
Chapter 48 of the sheriff's jail procedures explains what happens instead. Once staff complete release processing, they remove the person from the active roster and population count. The disappearance is consistent with a release event, yet it does not disclose whether the person walked into the community, transferred to the Oregon Department of Corrections, went to another county, or was delivered to an agency holding a detainer. A detainer is a request by another authority to keep custody.
The wider Polk County 72-Hour Release List route uses the same source record for an exact three-day span. It is useful when a one-day request may omit part of a weekend.
Check Polk County Daily Releases
Start with a precise time span and the custody system that held the person. A Polk jail release and an ODOC prison release are separate events. For a named person, the county's online form is the quickest official fallback. For a complete one-day set, ask for existing Intake Log entries rather than asking staff to create a new list.
- Set the start and end date and time for the prior 24 hours. State the time zone and include the full calendar dates.
- Use the Request Inmate Information form for one person. Give the full name plus the date of birth, five-digit inmate ID, or booking number when known.
- Ask for the actual release date and time, booking number, charges released on, release type, authorization, and any receiving person or agency.
- For all releasable entries in that interval, send a focused request through the sheriff's records process. Ask for existing Intake Log rows and segregable public fields.
- Compare the destination with the court case or the correct receiving-agency locator. An ODOC destination means county custody ended, not that the person entered the community.

A narrow question is more useful than asking whether someone is simply “gone.” If the response only says the person is no longer present, ask where custody went and which authority permitted the exit. Polk 24-Hour Release Fields
No public Polk feed displays these fields on demand. They are the fields to request from the Chapter 48 Intake Log. Together, they distinguish a true community release from a transfer and connect the event to the correct booking. Protected details may be withheld or redacted, but asking for each existing field gives the custodian a clear record description.

The roster displays different facts: current custody, charges, bail, a release date for a sentenced person, next court date, attorney details, and the jail ID. Its release date is prospective. It is not the Intake Log's actual exit timestamp. Polk also removed roster photos under Oregon's booking-photo law.
Request Polk Daily Release Records
The sheriff's formal Reports and Records Checks process is the archive route when a public feed is absent. Describe the existing jail record, not a broad criminal history. Include the exact one-day interval, the person's identifying details if the request is named, and the Intake Log fields sought. Ask for electronically available copies and a fee estimate before extensive research if the time or booking is uncertain.
Polk publishes a local response target of five business days as time permits. Oregon public-record law separately governs acknowledgment, estimates, fees, exemptions, and production without unreasonable delay. That local target does not promise a completed one-day log in five days. Juvenile, sealed, medical, safety-sensitive, victim, witness, and investigative material can be withheld or redacted. Request the nonexempt fields that can be separated from protected content.
Agency ownership also matters. Polk County Jail maintains the booking and release record even when Dallas, Independence, Monmouth, Salem, Oregon State Police, or another agency made the arrest. The incident report may belong to that arresting agency. Keeping the request focused on the jail Intake Log reduces the risk of being routed to the wrong office.

This form supports a named-person inquiry. A full day of release-log entries may require the formal public-record request route.
Polk Release or Custody Transfer
A name on Polk's current roster establishes active county-jail custody at the time of the update. A name that has vanished proves neither freedom nor the legal reason for removal. The release destination closes that gap. “Community” or release to the named person differs from a transfer to ODOC, another jail, a warrant agency, federal authorities, or ICE.
If the log names ODOC, use the Oregon Offender Search and VISOR. An ODOC location means the person remains confined after leaving Polk. A community-supervision result can show that prison custody later ended, but a fully discharged person may no longer be available in the public portal. For an official history, request ODOC admission, physical-release, supervision, and discharge records.
If federal custody is named, the Bureau of Prisons locator applies to sentenced federal prisoners. ICE's locator covers current qualifying detention, not a historical release log. The Polk entry remains important because it records the first transfer, while the receiving system documents the later event.

When Polk Daily Releases Occur
Polk's written procedure gives sentence completions an unusual local detail. A person whose local sentence expires is ordinarily processed between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m., unless another time has been directed. Staff verify the release authority and any detainer, account for money and property, finish the log, and send a person released to the community through the east-side intake area.
That morning window does not govern every release. Bail and court-authorized exits follow receipt and verification of valid authority. Staffing, jail activity, court action, and another agency's hold can affect the sequence. The actual Intake Log time is therefore the answer for a 24-hour inquiry, even when the expected sentence date was already visible.

Polk Bail Release Timing
Bail creates a second same-day timing path. The Polk County Jail FAQ says that in most cases a person may post 10 percent of bail. Weekday payment can go through the Criminal Court Records window. Phone or vendor options and the jail-lobby kiosk are also described. Money deposited belongs to the person in custody, who decides whether to use it for bail.
The sheriff offers about one hour only as a general processing guide. It is not a guaranteed release time. Court confirmation, staffing, jail activity, and other holds still control. A payment record or an expected processing estimate cannot replace the release log. Ask for the actual time and authority once processing is complete.

Polk Release Roster Disappears
The hourly update and prompt deletion create a sharp proof problem. A saved roster view shows that someone was in custody at that moment. Comparing it with a later blank result may help narrow the interval, but the comparison cannot reveal the type of exit. New bookings, transfers, administrative changes, and releases are mixed into the same changing population.
The county makes no promise that a released name stays visible for an hour, a day, or any other period. Written procedure directs deletion during completed processing. There is also no official mobile inmate app or public archive that restores those entries. County website alerts are general CivicPlus functions, not a jail-release product.
